We all have Scripture verses which we know better than others, or which are well known by a community. But, sometimes, we become so familiar with these verses that we may use them in a way in which they were not originally intended. When I was at theological college a number of our lecturers use to say “a text, out of context, is a pretext”. The purpose of this ten part series is to consider some very well-known verses which we may, because they are so familiar, be taking out of context.
