Jude urgently writes to believers who are under facing opposition from individuals who have secretly infiltrated the faith community. Jude’s purpose is to teach how believers are to contend for the faith even when a destructive enemy is present.

Part 1 - How To Contend

Jude 1:1-4

Jude the younger brother of James calls believers to contend against calculating enemies in prayerful “narrow door” faith. We contend with the purpose of evangelism and repentance even if it means personal sacrifice and suffering.

Part 2 - Identifying Any Stealthy Opposition

Jude 1:5-16

Jude references a wide range of sources, including Jewish literature and contemporary examples, to equip his readers to discern the “certain individuals” who have slipped into the church. His descriptions continue to give us discernment.

Part 3 - Unexpected Grace

Jude 1:17-25

Our response to those who are have false motives and who scoff at Jesus is to show unexpected grace so that the ungodly may still have an opportunity to experience God’s forgiveness and love.
